Selected work by Michelle J Straker across textile art, material experimentation and visual practice.

This portfolio begins with earlier textile and material work already documented in the archive. Michelle’s newer paintings will be added once they have been properly photographed, allowing the site to present them at the quality they require.

Selected Textile Work

The textile archive includes embroidery, openwork and cut surfaces, layered textiles, sculptural construction and material studies developed through Michelle’s fashion and textile-design background.

Painting

Michelle’s current painting practice is process-led and intuitive, with works developing through layered marks, rotating canvases, material movement and the gradual emergence of figures, structures and symbolic forms. Recent paintings will be added to the portfolio after they have been properly photographed.

Archive & Exhibition Context

Historic exhibition photographs and earlier textile documentation form part of the wider archive. These will continue to be organised as the artist record develops.
